
A man accused of making a false 911 call that triggered a major emergency response last month has been arrested in Madisonville.
Madisonville Police report that 32-year-old Bobby Wayne Sample was taken into custody on a Webster County District Court complaint warrant shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Sandcut Road.
According to state police, Sample called Webster County Central Dispatch on November 19 and claimed someone was involved in a UTV accident and pinned underneath the vehicle. State police said that more than 20 agencies from surrounding counties responded, utilizing emergency equipment to locate the caller over a 24-hour period.
Investigators have been searching for Sample since the false report. Authorities noted that he had known ties to Webster, Hopkins, Crittenden, Caldwell, Henderson, and McLean counties.
After his arrest, Sample was booked into the Hopkins County Jail and has since been released on a $10,000 cash bond, with a court date set for December 30th, according to the jail’s website.
