Fiscal Court Receives Update on Sidewalk and Walking Trail Grant Application

Caldwell County Fiscal Court heard updates on proposed and ongoing community projects during a brief meeting on Tuesday morning.

Following approval of the December 9th meeting minutes, Judge-Executive Kota Young shared that the grant application for the proposed U.S. 62 West project should be submitted soon.

click to download audioHe also provided an update on the purchase of 45 Motorola mobile radios, which will be funded in part by a state Homeland Security Grant, with the remaining cost covered by the City of Princeton and the county.

click to download audioAs reported by WPKY’s News Edge, the county was awarded a $191,500 grant to purchase 27 mobile radios for primary first-response emergency vehicles. However, Judge-Executive Kota Young explained that, with the help of Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin, they were able to negotiate for 45 Motorola mobile radios at a total cost of approximately $310,468. This left a funding gap of about $120,000, which will be covered by a 55-45 cost split recently approved by both the Fiscal Court and the Princeton City Council.

During reports, District 2 Magistrate Jeff Boone shared an update on the progress of Emergency Watershed Protection creek cleanout projects.

During department reports, County Clerk Jennifer Hale reminded voters that the deadline to change their party affiliation is at the end of this month.
