Caldwell Grand Jury Returns Multiple Indictments on Drug and Domestic Violence Charges

The Caldwell County Grand Jury issued indictments for several individuals from outside the county, with charges stemming from drug possession to domestic violence cases.

Austin Watkins, also known as Smitty, of Marion, was indicted on several violations, including felony and misdemeanor charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no operator’s license, and failure of a non-owner to maintain required insurance. The charges are from an incident on October 20, 2025, investigated by the Princeton Police Department. The grand jury returned a no true bill on Watkins after considering a charge of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, and this offense was dismissed.

In a separate indictment, Watkins was charged with first-degree strangulation, first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault, and first-degree persistent felony offender. These charges stem from an incident that occurred on or about September 14, 2025, and was investigated by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.

A true bill was returned on Stephen Adams of Louisville on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, and failure to notify the Department of Transportation of an address change.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on or about September 16, 2025, and was investigated by the Kentucky State Police.

Billy Wesley Newberry of Paducah faces charges of first-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault, and first-degree persistent felony offender.

The charges are from an incident that occurred on or about September 15, 2025, and was investigated by Princeton Police.

Jared John Asbridge of Shelbyville was indicted on charges of theft by unlawful taking of a controlled substance under $10,000, public intoxication, and first-degree persistent felony offender.

The charges are from an incident on or about August 6, 2025, and were investigated by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.

A true bill was returned on Alice Marie Dobyns of Elizabethtown on charges of speeding, first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI – second offense, booster seat violation, failure to wear seat belts, and possession of an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle.

The charges are in connection to an incident on or about October 3, 2025, that was investigated by the Kentucky State Police.

Mark Walter Fleck of Bowling Green was indicted on charges of DUI – 4th offense, no/expired registration plate, failure of owner to maintain required insurance – subsequent offense, possession of marijuana, possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to wear seat belts.

The charges are from an incident that occurred on or about September 26, 2025, that was investigated by the Princeton Police Department.
