Dixie Caroline Barnes, 95, of Louisville, formerly of Princeton, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Harmony at Tucker Station in Louisville.
She was born on December 18, 1930, in Caldwell County, Kentucky, to her late parents, Percy and Nannie Bealmear Cash. Dixie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by hard work. An avid reader, she made weekly trips to the library in search of new books, and she found joy in gardening and cooking for her family. After raising her family, Dixie began her career with South Central Bell, spending ten years there, starting as an operator and finishing as a service representative. She later worked for five years as a teller at Farmers Bank before earning her real estate license in her sixties and completing her career as a realtor, a role she truly loved, especially exploring different homes and floor plans.
Dixie is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Jo Barnes of Louisville; two sons, David C. (Debbie) Barnes of Louisville, Ricky Z. (Stacey) Barnes of Nashville; sister, Juanita Hunsaker of Princeton; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Bethany) Barnes of Nashville, TN, Kyle (Kristie) Barnes of White Pine, TN; Joshua (Irina) Reynolds of Louisville; five great-grandchildren, Griffin Barnes, London Barnes, Ryker Barnes, Caroline Reynolds, Lyla Reynolds; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louard Barnes; twin sisters, Betty C. Agnew, Dorothy Orten; two brothers, Harold “Red” Lester Cash, Glenn Elwood Cash.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
