Congressman James Comer announced Tuesday that two local high school students from Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District have received nominations for appointments to the United States service academies.
Kylee Lane White of Princeton, a student at Caldwell County High School, received nominations to the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Naval Academy.
Additionally, Daniel Gunner Stiner, a student from Cadiz who attends Lyon County High School, received a nomination to the United States Air Force Academy.
White and Stiner are among only sixteen students selected from Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District. These nominations are a critical step in the appointment process for the nation’s service academies, which require a recommendation from a member of Congress, the Vice President, or the President.
In a written statement, Rep. Comer expressed his pride in congratulating the sixteen outstanding high school students on earning their nominations. He said that these individuals have shown local leadership and now have the chance to attend the nation’s prestigious service academies. Comer added that each candidate has demonstrated exceptional scholarship, leadership, and character, and noted their commitment to serving in the armed forces is truly admirable. He also shared his confidence that these students will continue to excel as they progress through the appointment process.
White and Stiner, along with the other nominees, will now await final appointment decisions from the academies.
