A Princeton man is facing a long list of charges after police say he tried to run during an arrest Saturday night at a local gaming hall.

Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison says officers were called to the VFW Gaming Hall on East Washington Street around 9:00 Saturday night after reports of a man with outstanding warrants. Officers say they found 41-year-old Jowan Riley inside and told him he was under arrest. Police say Riley tried to run, but after a brief struggle in the parking lot, he was taken into custody.

During the arrest, officers say they found Riley with narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm that had been reported stolen to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office. Police say that more contraband was discovered on Riley as he was brought into the jail.

Riley now faces several charges, including trafficking in marijuana, possession of meth – 2nd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, fleeing from police, having a handgun as a convicted felon, receiving stolen property, and promoting contraband in the first degree.

Police say Riley was also served bench warrants from three counties—one from Christian County for failing to appear on a traffic offense, one from Caldwell County for failing to pay child support, and another from Logan County for contempt of court in a 2025 meth-related case.

Riley was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
