Caldwell County officials are taking action to meet local housing needs with a major development announced Tuesday night to increase affordable options for residents.
Judge-Executive Kota Young announced plans for a new 60-unit affordable housing complex in Princeton. The Madison Mills apartments, a three-story complex, will be developed through a partnership between Parkland Manor and Wabuck Development Company. He said the complex will be built on the former Hosiery Mill lot on West Washington Street and aims to provide much-needed housing primarily for seniors 55 and older.
Judge Young called the project the largest residential development Caldwell County has seen in generations, and expressed his gratitude to the Princeton City Council, Fiscal Court, and the Industrial Development Authority Board for their support and long-term vision.
He also noted that the project includes a significant investment in stormwater infrastructure, which will help address persistent flooding problems in the neighborhood.
In addition, Young announced that work is already underway on another complex, which will offer more affordable housing options for families and local workers.
He also thanked Parkland Manor and Wabuck for securing this investment and for their ongoing partnership with local leaders to bring more housing options to the community.
Judge Young said he hopes this project shows that Princeton and Caldwell County can still dream big and turn those dreams into reality.
He described the new apartment complex as a step forward in shaping the county’s future, alongside ongoing industrial growth and other community investments.
