Caldwell County High School Principal Daniel Kukahiko recently spoke to members of the Princeton Rotary Club, providing insights into current priorities and initiatives, including student readiness.
Kukahiko emphasized that the top priority is the safety of students and staff, followed by transition readiness and helping students explore post-graduation options. He noted that, unlike 25 years ago, when college was considered essential, there has been a shift in what defines success for students today.

Kukahiko explained that secondary education readiness is a key focus, with the high school evaluated on how well it prepares students for life after graduation. He said this includes meeting college benchmarks on state tests as well as making sure students are career-ready, which is their goal.
He said they have added a new 29-minute Impact Time for each grade to focus on specific topics, with freshmen and sophomores currently participating in the Leader in Me program that was initiated by former Principal Malissa Thomas at the elementary school.
