Patricia Ellen Keating, 67, of Fredonia, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at her home.
She was born on October 8, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, to her late parents, Eugene Franklin “Frankie” and Patricia Jane Smith. Patricia was raised in Hobart, Indiana, where she graduated with the Hobart High School Class of 1977 and was a proud member of the basketball team. She and her husband, Kevin Keating, owned and operated 7/11 stores in the area before later relocating to Clarkston, Michigan, where they spent about 15 years. During that time, Patricia built a career in sales with Frito-Lay. After Kevin’s passing, she returned to Portage, Indiana, and later moved to Fredonia, Kentucky, following the loss of her parents. Patricia had a deep love for the beach and time spent in Florida, enjoyed reading and watching movies, and was a devoted Notre Dame fan.
Patricia is survived by her three brothers, Frankie (Amy) Smith, Jr., of Walkerton, IN, Chuck (Dawn) Smith of Hobart, IN, and Luke (Connie) Smith of Eddyville, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin C. Keating.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Lakeland Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery in Lyon County.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Lakeland Funeral Home.
