
The Caldwell County Grand Jury returned seven felony indictments and one no true bill from its May session.
Separate true bills were returned on Joseph Earls and Brittany Miller of Marion, each on a single count of theft by unlawful taking of $1,000 or more. The charges stem from an alleged incident on December 8th that was investigated by Princeton Police.
Jowan Riley of Princeton was indicted on charges of trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, third-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property – firearm, first-degree promoting contraband, and first-degree persistent felony offender.
The charges are from March 14th, when Princeton Police responded to the VFW Gaming Hall on East Washington Street to serve outstanding warrants on Riley. Officers said Riley tried to run, but was quickly taken into custody. Police said Riley possessed meth, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun that had been reported stolen in Caldwell County. Police said additional contraband was discovered during Riley’s booking at the jail.
A true bill was returned on Jonathan Hubbard of Princeton on charges of tampering with physical evidence and first-degree persistent felony offender. The grand jury returned a no true bill on a first-degree promoting contraband charge, and this charge was dismissed.
The charges stem from February 27th, when Princeton Police reported that Hubbard was being processed at the jail to serve time. According to detectives, a deputy jailer saw Hubbard drop a baggie with a white, crystal-like substance on the floor. Officers said that Hubbard tried to hide it in his mouth before spitting it into a toilet and flushing it.
Colbin Shean of Princeton was indicted on first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault.
The charges are from February 21st, after Princeton Police investigated a domestic incident on West Locust Street. According to police, the victim reported she had been assaulted and strangled by her boyfriend, Shean, with whom she shares a child.
Thomas Jay Prevatte, also known as Tee Jay, of Princeton, was indicted on charges of theft by deception under $10,000, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, theft by unlawful taking $1,000 or more, and second-degree persistent felony offender.
The indictment states the charges cover incidents that occurred between January 15th and February 3rd, and were investigated by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office.
The grand jury indicted Jeffrey Baize of Princeton on charges of failure to wear seat belts; possessing an open alcohol beverage container in a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property – firearm; possession of marijuana – firearm enhanced, and possession of drug paraphernalia – firearm enhanced.
According to the indictment, the charges stem from an alleged incident in February that was investigated by the Kentucky State Police.
