City Council Discusses Housing, Bridge Repairs, and Community Projects

Following their regular meeting on Monday, the Princeton City Council held a planning work session to discuss upcoming projects and future community improvements.

Mayor Brock Thomas told WPKY’s News Edge that Judge-Executive Kota Young, who also chairs the Princeton-Caldwell County Industrial Development Authority, shared updates on new affordable housing projects.

click to download audioAnother topic is the possibility of building a new road to the industrial spec building to help improve traffic flow.

click to download audioMayor Thomas added that they also talked about the sidewalk projects and future upgrades. He said one of the main topics discussed was the bridges on Franklin and Hawthorne Street.

click to download audioThe bridges were closed in April 2025 due to flood damage, impacting traffic on North Franklin Street between East Locust and East Shepardson, as well as on North Hawthorne Street from East Market to East Locust.

Another topic of discussion was possible development ideas for the Big Springs area, now that the Main Street buildings have been removed and new uses for the space can be considered.
