Regional Cow and Calf Conference in Grand Rivers Wednesday

Local cattle producers and those interested in the cattle industry are being reminded that the regional Cow and Calf Conference will be held later this week.
Shane Bogle, Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources at the Caldwell County Extension Office, says the annual event will be held Wednesday from 9AM until 4PM at the Grand Rivers Community Center. He adds that registration for the conference, which is hosted by several area Extension Offices including Caldwell, Trigg, and Crittenden counties, will begin at 8AM.
Bogle notes that the conference will feature guest speaker Jonathan Shepherd and will cover managing cow-calf operations for profit. He states that topics include cow-calf budgeting, managing overhead costs, hay production, understanding breeding stock depreciation, improved winter feeding practices, general farm management, profitable stocking rates, and more.
