Caldwell County and area residents now have a new location to renew their driver’s license after Hopkinsville was selected as a location for one of nearly two-dozen regional Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Driver Licensing offices.
Christian County Circuit Court Clerk Paige Parker said the office will be open for business on Thursday in the former First City Bank location at 901 South Main Street at the corner of 9th and Main.
Parker said driver’s licenses will no longer be issued in her office.
The state expects to complete the transition to regional offices statewide by the end of June. In western Kentucky, there are offices located in Paducah, Madisonville, Owensboro, and Bowling Green in addition to Hopkinsville.
Parker said walk-ins are welcome at the new regional office but appointments are recommended.
The regional offices will also be the issuing agency for Real ID cards, which will be needed for domestic flights by May 2023. They can also be used to enter federal buildings or military bases.
