Princeton Mayor Hoping Budget Workshops Help City Stay Fiscally Responsible

Local organizations that receive funding from the city will soon be asked to participate in upcoming budget workshops for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
Princeton Mayor Kota Young proposed the start of budget workshops at a meeting Monday night saying that his hope was to make sure all appropriations made for the current fiscal year were being used in the public interest.
Mayor Young says that these budget workshops are really a way for city officials to know where they stand going into the new fiscal year.

He adds that these workshops will help the city fulfill one of it’s responsibilities, to be able to look at the budget, point out any line item and know how the funds are being spent. Seeing how money has been spent in this budget will help decide how money should be spent in the next budget.
Mayor Young notes that it may seem early to begin thinking about next fiscal year’s budget but his intentions are to have several budget workshops and discussions over the next several months.

Mayor Young hopes the first of the budget workshops can start at the beginning of March.
