Workforce Ready Community Lunch and Learn in Eddyville in June

Community leaders are being invited to attend a powerful and informative presentation on becoming a Workforce Ready Community in Eddyville on Thursday, June 27th.
Lake Barkley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Deb Domke says that Kristina Slattery, Executive Director of the Office of Workforce, Community Development & Research will speak at the event, which begins at noon at the Lee Jones Community building in Eddyville.
She adds Kentucky’s communities are stepping up to the plate when it comes to demonstrating the quality of their workforce and the state’s Work Ready Communities program is inspiring meaningful dialogue and action by community, education, government, and business leaders across the Commonwealth. With half of Kentucky’s counties already certified as either Work Ready or Work Ready in Progress, and the remainder of the state’s counties in some stage of the journey, Kentucky is proving workforce preparedness isn’t just lip service.
Domke notes that during the session attendees will learn what we must do in our community to meet the criteria in six key areas that are critical to producing a productive workforce. Criteria includes high school graduation rates, National Career Readiness Certificate holders, community commitment, attainment, soft skills and Internet availability.
She states that the program is a partnership effort by the Lake Barkley Chamber of Commerce and the Lake Barkley Partnership #THINKRURAL.
Tickets are $15 per person and include lunch from Our Daily Bread and are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce’s location at 412 Newman Drive in Eddyville. For more information you can contact Deb Domke at 270-388-4769 or by email at lakebarkleychamber1@gmail.com.
