Students in the Caldwell County School District will have a short day Wednesday to facilitate a memorial for Head Football Coach David Barnes.
In a one-call recording sent out Monday afternoon Superintendent Nate Huggins says that the primary school will let out first, beginning at 12:40 Wednesday afternoon, with all busses off campus by 1:15.
He added that doors to the Caldwell County High School Gymnasium will open to the public at 2:30PM for Coach Barnes’ memorial, which will begin at 3:30.
Barnes, who has been head coach at Caldwell since 2006, passed away early Saturday morning after falling ill at the Caldwell football scrimmage at Hopkins County Central Friday night. He had been battling Parkinson’s Disease since being diagnosed in 2017.
