Blood Drive at Princeton Welcome Center Friday

The City of Princeton is hoping to help the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center (WKRBC) increase blood supply levels within the area through a blood drive Friday.
WKRBC Recruiter Robbin Shively says that the blood drive will be set up at the Princeton Welcome Center at 206 East Market Street from 10AM until 4PM for those interested in giving blood. She adds that while WKRBC did reach adequate levels on Monday now is not the time to be complacent, the need to keep blood supplies at this level, or above, is imperative.
Shively notes that despite concerns over the spread of coronavirus donating blood is safe but extra precautions, like taking a potential donor’s temperature prior to donation, have been implemented.

She is reminding all potential donors that you must be at least 17 years of age to donate, 16 year olds may donate with a parent consent form, and must weigh at least 115 ponds, must wait at least 56 days between blood donations, must have a photo ID, and must check all of their medications with staff.
Shively is also encouraging all potential donors to eat a good meal and keep hydrated before donating.
WKRBC supplies six area hospitals, including Caldwell Medical Center, and three air ambulances. For more information you can contact WKRBC toll free at 1-888-684-9296.
