Two COVID Related Deaths Announced In Pennyrile District Thursday

The Pennyrile District Health Department announced two new COVID-19 related deaths and 58 new cases of the virus around its five-county district Thursday.
The health department reported the death of a 48-year old man in Lyon County on March 9 and a 68-year old Trigg County man who died on February 19 has been linked to the coronavirus.
Of the 58 new cases reported by the health department, 49 are in Lyon County and include 46 cases among staff and inmates at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville and the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex in Fredonia.
As of Thursday, the state’s confirmed COVID-19 cases by institutions show the Kentucky State Penitentiary reporting a total of 537 active cases that includes 43 staff and 494 inmates infected with the virus. The Western Kentucky Correctional Complex reported a total of 314 active cases that includes 26 among staff and 288 inmates.
According to the institutions, there has been one death linked to the virus at the Kentucky State Penitentiary and two deaths at the Western Kentucky Correctional Complex.
The health department also reported five new COVID cases in Caldwell County involving four males isolated at home, ages 11 months to 48, and a 70-year old female who is hospitalized.
Also in the district, Trigg County reported two new cases, and Crittenden and Livingston counties each reported one new case.
