Man Charged With Fleeing From Law Enforcement With Children In The Vehicle

An Eddyville man was charged after he allegedly led law enforcement on a pursuit with two children in the vehicle Thursday afternoon.
Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to Jennifer Lane for a disturbance involving 48-year-old Phillip Young who took two children from the home and fled the area.
Law enforcement attempted to stop Young when he was reportedly seen disregarding a stop sign and he fled at low speeds before coming to a stop at a home just north of the Trigg County line.
Deputies say Young then got into a brief standoff with law enforcement when he would not comply with verbal commands and a female came out of the home and also would not comply with law enforcement commands.
Young was tased after he reportedly tried to flee again and he was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police, DUI second offense, failure to wear a seatbelt, resisting arrest, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), and second-degree strangulation (child victim).
Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by the Eddyville Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Lyon County EMS, the Department of Community-Based Services, and the Western Kentucky Violent Crimes Task Force.
Additionally, 34-year-old Laysha A. Plocha, of Eddyville was charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) which arose from the initial disturbance call at the residence on Jennifer Lane. A total of four children were temporarily removed from the home by DCBS.
