McCaslin Answers Recent Questions About Storm Sirens

Joey McCaslin

Many residents have questions about sirens going off in Caldwell County during severe weather.
Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin told Your News Edge that while everyone refers to the outdoor sirens – as storm sirens, that is not their only purpose.

McCaslin said you will mainly hear the sirens sound during severe weather warnings.

Whether the siren is sounded off for storms or a hazardous event, you need to head indoors.

Another question is why every part of Caldwell County does not have sirens. McCaslin said there is no way any community can afford to do that.

McCaslin added if you hear the siren for about a minute that means it’s a test. They are done once a month on the last Wednesday at Noon.
