Caldwell County FFA Chapter Celebrates Student Achievements with Degree Ceremony

The Caldwell County FFA Chapter held its Degree Ceremony Tuesday night as part of National FFA Week. The purpose of this program was to recognize local students for their accomplishments thus far in the chapter this year.

The meeting was called to order by FFA President Whitleigh Carter with the official opening ceremony for a FFA meeting. Daniel Laurent presented the devotion and opening prayer. The guest speaker for the program was current Kentucky FFA State Reporter Laken White who is a former officer and member of the Caldwell County Chapter. She encouraged members to take the next step in their career as a FFA member. White said the Degree Ceremony was one of her favorite events of the FFA.

click to download audioThe Greenhand Degree was awarded to 69 members of the local chapter. The Greenhand degree is the first of two levels of accomplishments the local chapter can award. Freshman member Lukas Harper then presented the FFA Creed by memory. The FFA Creed contains 258 words in 5 paragraphs. The Chapter Degree was then awarded to 25 members and that is the highest degree presented by the local club. Officer and Committee Pins were presented to Junior Officers, Chapter Officers and Committee members. The meeting was closed with official FFA closing ceremonies including the pledge to the American Flag.
