Caldwell County FFA Alumni Set Plans for Support and Fundraisers

The Caldwell County High School FFA Alumni recently met to kick off the new school year for the local FFA students.

Plans were announced for ways the alumni can get involved and assist the students as they participate, compete, and serve in community projects.

The Alumni will continue their annual sausage and sorghum sales this year. They voted to purchase 4 hogs for sausage that have been raised by a local FFA member and 4 cases of sorghum from a local farmer to be sold. All proceeds from the sales will go toward FFA activities.

Advisors Woods and Jennings reminded the Alumni about the upcoming Black Patch Festival, where the FFA members will be assisting James Alan Boone with the free petting zoo and also will be conducting the petal tractor pulls at the Princeton City Hall grounds.

Plans are being made for the annual Farm to Plate program where the FFA takes the 3rd grade students to visit a local farm and learn about agriculture. The FFA students will also be attending the National FFA Convention. Mum sales will continue through September 11th.

Woods reminded the parents and students there is an Alumni Scholarship presented each year to a graduating senior. The parent and student both must be involved in the Alumni to qualify for the scholarship.

Advisor Woods shared about the FFA Chapter attending the Kentucky State Fair.
