Princeton City Council Approves Demolition Bid, Airport Board Appointments

The Princeton City Council approved a bid for demolition projects, appointed members to the airport board, and received updates on police officer graduations and the annual toy drive.

At Monday night’s meeting, Mayor Brock Thomas presented two bids for demolishing buildings at 130 and 134 East Main Streets, with the Council accepting Heaton Construction’s low bid of $98,000.

click to download audioIn other action, the Council, in cooperation with Caldwell County Judge Executive Kota Young, approved executive orders reappointing Lloyd Murdock and Bruce Morris to the Princeton-Caldwell County Airport Board with a term to expire December 31, 2027. The reappointment of Mark Thomas and appointment of Phillip Sisk were also approved, with their terms expiring December 31, 2028.

During department reports, Police Chief Chris King announced that two officers will graduate from the police academy this week.

click to download audioHe also announced that applications for the Officer David Scott Memorial Toy Drive will be available starting December 1st.

click to download audioTo sign up, children must be ages 2 to 10 and live in Caldwell County on the distribution day. A social security card or medical card for each child on the application must be presented with the application for proof of age. The deadline to apply and to drop off toy donations is December 15th.

Toy pickup day is Saturday, December 20th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Princeton Tourist and Welcome Center at 206 East Market Street. Parents must bring a photo ID to collect toys.
