The Caldwell County School Board was honored for its service Tuesday evening, before moving on to adopt a draft budget for 2027 and take steps toward renovating the middle school.
Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach noted that January is School Board Recognition Month, adding that he feels “blessed to work with an outstanding school board.”
At the meeting, Certified Public Accountant and Audit Manager Taylor Mathis of DGA, PSC in Hopkinsville, shared the Fiscal Year 2024-25 audit with the Board, reporting that the school district received a “clean opinion.”

click to download audioHe said they are managing the budget well amid salary increases, and he is hopeful they can review and possibly make changes to Class 5 positions this summer, adding that overall, the district is in a good place financially.

The Board then heard from Kevin Hitchel, Construction Manager with Alliance Corporation, who reported that the estimated cost for the middle school renovation project on the low end is about $10 million.

The Board also approved the schedule for regular meetings in 2026, keeping dates, times and locations the same, with meetings held at 6:00 p.m. on the third Monday of each month and rotating between the schools and the Butler Building Auditorium.
