The Caldwell County Fiscal Court has approved the purchase order for a new fire pumper and tanker truck and has set up the America250 Kentucky Committee in Caldwell County to mark the nation’s upcoming milestone.
At a special meeting Tuesday morning, magistrates approved an interlocal agreement for cooperative purchasing as part of the process to order a new fire pumper and tanker truck. Judge-Executive Kota Young said the estimated cost for the new proposed fire truck is more than $1.2 million.
click to download audioHe also mentioned that the new pumper truck is expected to be delivered before the end of the next fiscal year.
click to download audioJudge Young said the new pumper truck will replace a 26-year-old tanker, which will be surplussed and transferred to the Fredonia Fire Department.
In other business, the Fiscal Court established the America250 Caldwell County Committee. Carolyn Traum, representing the General John Caldwell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Princeton, announced that the county will receive a free Liberty Tree to be planted at Dotson Park.

She also mentioned that two additional Liberty Trees will be planted in neighboring counties.
click to download audioIn other action, magistrates approved the reappointment of Ty Harper to the Caldwell County Water District Board, authorized training hours for both magistrates and the clerk, and passed budget amendment #3 for fiscal year 2026.
