Motorists in Caldwell and Lyon Counties can expect some changes on the roads this week, as state transportation officials roll out a range of maintenance projects and traffic adjustments.

Most of the work involves mowing and shoulder repairs, but there are a few spots where you’ll definitely run into flaggers.

Starting Monday and Tuesday, crews will be out ditching along KY 70 between the 2 and 4-mile markers. You’ll see flaggers there, so expect some brief delays.

As we hit the middle of the week, the focus shifts to KY 672. Starting Wednesday and running all the way through Friday, crews will be performing shoulder work across the entire stretch of the highway—from mile point zero to 14. Traffic will be down to one lane at times with flaggers directing motorists.

Mowing crews will be rotating through several routes during the week, including Kentucky Highways 276, 1272, 515, and 293.

Officials remind motorists that all of this work is weather-dependent, so a rainy day could push these projects back.

Meanwhile, in Lyon County, state transportaton officials say lane restrictions are currently in effect on I-24 near Exit 45 for Kentucky Highway 293, between mile markers 45.1 and 50.

The speed limit in this work zone has been reduced to 55 mph. Traffic is being shifted to head-to-head in the eastbound lanes, using a newly constructed crossover.

Transportaton officials say this is the first phase of a 10-mile asphalt rehabilitation project, which runs from Exit 45 in Lyon County to Exit 56 in Caldwell County.

The estimated completion date for the project is November 5th, 2027.

Drivers are encouraged to stay alert in these areas and allow extra time for travel until all roadwork is complete.
