The George Coon Public Library in Princeton is inviting local families to an Early Literacy Playdate this Friday. The event is specifically designed for children aged four and under.

The theme for this session is Dinosaurs.

But it isn’t just about the prehistoric fun. Library officials say this playdate is part of a larger effort by the Kentucky Regional Collaborative Network and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to highlight the importance of early literacy.

Organizers say that literacy isn’t just about reading books—it’s the foundation for how kids learn to communicate and socialize. By singing songs, drawing, and even playing with rhymes, parents can help their children develop the brainpower they need before they even start kindergarten.

The fun kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and runs until noon. at the library located at 114 South Jefferson Street.

Library officials expressed their gratitude to the Caldwell, Crittenden, and Lyon Community Early Childhood Council, as well as the Caldwell County Cooperative Extension, for their partnership in making this event a reality.

If you have questions or want more details, you can call the library at (270) 365-2884.
