At Monday’s meeting, the Princeton City Council approved bids for two sidewalk projects and received the dates and times of the annual spring drop off, which starts next week.
Mayor Brock Thomas said that the city received five bids for the sidewalk improvements and recommended the council accept the lowest bid of $22,000 for work along Green and East Main streets, as well as the lowest bid of $16,450 for the section of Main Street between South McNary and Garrett streets.
The council voted unanimously to follow the Mayor’s recommendation, while Rick Blackburn and Brian Conger were not present at the meeting.
In other new business, the Council heard from resident Mike Combs, who requested that the current dawn-to-dusk hours under the special vehicle ordinance be extended to allow for later evening use.
Councilwoman Sheila Gates asked Princeton Police Chief Chris King for his opinion on extending the hours, and he said that his position hasn’t changed and he considers it a safety concern.

After additional discussion, Mayor Thomas said the Council will take Combs’ request into consideration.
