Lyon and Crittenden County Crews Excel at District 1 Roadeo

Lyon and Crittenden County highway technicians were among participants from 12 counties who showcased their skills at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 Equipment Operators’ Roadeo, held May 6th at Kenlake State Resort Park in Hardin.

Crittenden County led the way in several categories, with Justin O’Neal winning 1st place in Truck with Plow and Travis Kinnis claiming 1st in Tractor with Mower. Robert “Corey” Rowley from Crittenden County earned the title of Overall Champion, also placing 3rd in Skid Steer and Backhoe.

From Lyon County, Jason Oates and Brian Ragsdale captured 1st and 2nd in the Grader event. Colton Morse took 1st in Backhoe, while Caleb Marshall earned multiple top placements, including 3rd in Truck with Plow and 2nd in Tractor with Mower.

According to transportation officials, the top finishers in District 1 will advance to compete at the statewide Roadeo in June.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 1 serves the 12 counties in the far western region of the state. These include Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Crittenden, and Fulton, as well as Graves, Hickman, Livingston, and Lyon. Rounding out the district are Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg counties.
