A Kuttawa woman was charged with wanton endangerment after an investigation into a missing child last week.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White reports deputies and multiple other first responders were dispatched to a missing 1-year old child complaint on KY 93 North around 11:40 Monday morning. He says the child was located over 200 yards from this residence near a wooded area and creek.

According to Sheriff White, the investigation revealed this was the second of two incidents in a 72-hour period whereby the child was not being properly supervised by his mother and both times could have caused the death or serious physical injury to the child if not for the intervention of others.

The mohter, 28-year old Shelby King, was charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sheriff White says King was later transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The children were reportedly unharmed and temporarily removed from the home by the Department of Child Services and placed with relatives.
