Fiscal Court Approves Budget, Mileage Rate Increase


Caldwell County Fiscal Court magistrates approved the Fiscal Year 2022-23 budget on second reading and a mileage rate increase during Tuesday morning’s meeting.
Judge-Executive Larry Curling presented the $9.2 million budget that includes a general fund of more than $3.33 million.

Fiscal Court also recognized Sheriff Stan Hudson who announced Monday he is retiring effective July 1st. Judge Curling said they will host a retirement reception for Sheriff Hudson on Wednesday at the courthouse.

Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin also relayed a message from Fire Chief Brent Francis about being extremely careful to avoid being injured or sparking a fire when shooting off fireworks on July 4th. McCaslin said the fire chief’s 15-year old grandson got hit in the eye by a bottle rocket over the weekend.
